Dave Bethany, Ministry Founder

Dave Bethany is a General Contractor and business owner with more than 45 years of experience in the construction industry. He served 34 years with MOVE Ministries as Director of Construction, helping build Open Bible churches and strengthen ministries around the world. In 2023, God led Dave to launch Mission Esperanza, and in 2025 he transitioned full-time into leading the ministry.
Through Mission Esperanza, Dave has made multiple ministry trips to Cuba, supporting pastors, churches, construction projects, pastors’ conferences, and a rapidly growing feeding program now serving approximately 25,000 Cubans weekly. He is also leading initiatives to strengthen church infrastructure, including community ministry centers and solar power projects across the island.
Dave and his wife, Carla, are blessed with four children and eight grandchildren, and remain deeply committed to serving the Lord together through ministry and missions.

Aaron Keller, Ministry Co-Director

Aaron serves as Senior Pastor of Sunshine Open Bible Church in Des Moines, Iowa, and as National Director of MOVE Ministries, leading men's mission efforts locally and globally. He and his wife, Wendy, are raising four children and have been in ministry since 2002. After joining a scouting trip to Cuba, Aaron was deeply moved by the humility and resilient faith of the Cuban church. He views partnership with Mission Esperanza as an opportunity to strengthen the church in Cuba while deepening his own walk with Christ.

Advisory Team

Gary Correll

Gary is President of SAI Industries, a defense contracting company. He has participated in three MOVE projects, and has served on several Christian nonprofit boards, including schools, missions, and churches including many years on the Village Church Board of Elders. With a lifelong passion for missions, he has participated in feeding and building programs around the world. Gary has supported Mission Esperanza since its beginning, driven by his heart for the Cuban people and their great need.

George Kaszacs

George brings over 20 years of experience building executive teams for fast-growth technology companies, specializing in BP and C-level placements across Engineering, Product Management and Operations. A Los Angeles native, George is married with twins. He has served in leadership roles with several nonprofits, including LA Dream Center, Village Christian Schools, Messenger International, and now Mission Esperanza. George has a great love for the Church in Cuba and lives by the conviction: "Whatever is in your hands to use, give it, because the need is great!"

Steve Kline

Steve is a retired contractor and former fire captain/paramedic from Bend, Oregon, where he and his wodnerful wife, Barbara, make their home. Steve and Barbara have faithfully served at, and attended Church of the Cascades (Open Bible) for nearly 40 years, and Steve has been actively involved with MOVE Ministries for almost as long. They are blessed with three adult children and bevy of precious grandchildren. Steve is most at home when he is serving the Lord and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. During Steve's numerous trips to Cuba he has developed a deep call to serve the wonderful people and churches.

Don Labate

Don is a licensed Structural Engineer with over 40 years of experience and more than a decade serving with MOVE ministries and now serving on the MOVE Board of Directors. He has participated in numerous construction mission trips worldwide and now provides engineering oversight for Mission Esperanza's building projects. Passionate about both construction and missions, Don is honored to support the growing church in Cuba and help build spaces that strengthen faith and community.

Glenn Rouse

Glenn is a retired businessman and former executive pastor with a deep passion for seeing God's kingdom revealed in the world. He and his wife, Barbi, have been married for over 51 years and are blessed with a daughter and three grandchildren. Glenn actively serves through foster care outreach, daily prayer leadership, church eldership, and mentoring young boys through teaching and Bible study. He joined Mission Esperanza after being moved by God's call to care for the poor and by the vision to bring Jesus, practical suport, and discipleship to the people of Cuba.

John Sponsler

John is the owner of Brand X Music and has built a respected career as a composer, producer, and publisher. He and his wife, Debbie, have faithfully served Village Church and Village Christian Schools for over 25 years and are proud parents and grandparents. John has also served on two MOVE projects. After a Visiton Trip to Cuba, John felt called to support Mission Esperanza. Moved by the faith and resilience of the Cuban church, he joined the ministry to help bring lasting hope to communities in need.

Greg Steele

Greg is a retired audio engineer who has served at Village Church in Burbank, California for over 30 years in various leadership and support roles, including serving on the Board of Elders for many years. He became involved with Mission Esperanza after being invited to a gathering hosted by Founder Dave Bethany, where he heard firsthand about the ministry's work in Cuba. Recognizing God's clear movement through these efforts, Greg felt called to be part of what was unfolding. He is fully committed to Mission Esperanza and grateful for the opportunity to support the ministry's work in Cuba.
